Supreme Court refuses to release Durga Prasai

The medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has been denied bail by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court's information officer, Govinda Prasad Ghimire,

reports that Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut's lone bench declined to order Prasai's

release on Tuesday.

Nirajan, Prasai's son, petitioned the supreme court on Monday for his release through

habeas corpus. In the plea, Nirajan has identified the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police, and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers as defendants.

Justice Raut's bench responded to the petition on Tuesday by giving

the defendants a show cause notice that required them

to provide a written response within 15 days.
