Rabi Lamichhane, a member of the House and party head, has proposed his candidacy. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Law Minister Sobita Gautam, and Minister of Physical Infrastructure Sunil Lamsal are all in favor of the idea.
The speaker's election is set on Chaitra 22.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat had scheduled the nomination registration period for Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At 2:30 pm, the final list of candidates will be made public.
A motion to elect the Speaker will be made during the House of Representatives meeting on Chaitra 22. It will be supported by a proposer and seconders. The nomination notification will be presented for decision following a group discussion.
The RSP resolved to nominate Aryal for the position of Speaker at its meeting on Thursday. The party has nearly a two-thirds majority in the 275-member House of Representatives with 182 seats, which virtually guarantees Aryal's election as Speaker.
The most senior member of the House, Arjun Narsingh KC, has been presiding over House of Representatives proceedings in the absence of a speaker.
