KATHMANDU: Petroleum product prices have been raised once more by the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).

Citing changes in the price of crude oil on the global market, the state-owned company has increased petrol prices. With effect from Thursday at midnight, the NOC has raised the prices of cooking gas, gasoline, diesel, and kerosene. The price of gasoline has increased by Rs 17 per liter, while the price of diesel and kerosene has increased by Rs 25 per liter, according to the NOC board of directors. The cost of cooking LPG has also gone up by Rs 100 per cylinder. The company claims that the price of domestic aviation fuel has increased by Rs 6 per liter. In the Kathmandu Valley, petrol currently costs Rs 219 per liter due to the updated prices. Kerosene and diesel cost Rs 207 a liter. A cooking LPG cylinder now costs Rs 2,010. Similarly, the price of domestic aviation fuel has been set at Rs 257 per liter. The government asserts that the price increase was necessary because the losses did not decrease even after providing a 50% exemption on infrastructure development taxes and customs charges. Despite today's price increase, the NOC says it will lose about Rs 7.81 billion every two weeks.
