By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct 29: The Nepal-based Pakistan Embassy arranged for a discussion about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir today.

The press release from the Embassy informs that the Pakistan Embassy, Kathmandu, presented a talk on Kashmir Black Day titled "Kashmir—A Case of Human and Economic Rights under Occupation."

The press release went on to explain that one of the longest-lasting conflicts in modern history started seventy-eight years ago on 27 October 1947, when Indian forces arrived at Srinagar Airport in a clear breach of international law.

The event was graced by the presence of some of the best-known Nepali journalists, thinkers, and representatives from civil society.

Furthermore, messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were presented during the event.

In his address, President Asif Ali Zardari remembered that on this day of 1947, Indian soldiers came to Srinagar, violating international law, and thus the occupation and violence began. He added that the people of Kashmir have been suffering the most and facing the harshest forms of control. The president appealed to the world community in general and the United Nations in particular to make India responsible for its severe human rights violations and to facilitate the occurrence of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute settlement as per UN Security Council resolutions. He reiterated the commitment of the people of Pakistan to stand by Kashmiris in all three ways—morally, politically, and diplomatically, as per the press release.

In his message, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif labeled the day of 27 October 1947 as the worst day in the history of Kashmir. He paid homage to the bravery and fortitude of the Kashmiri people, observing India’s deeds since 5 August 2019.
